TRIBOCORROSION EVALUATION OF NI-PTFE ELECTROCHEMICAL COATINGS

This paper presents the results of tribological and tribocorrosion tests of electroplated nanocomposite Ni-PTFE coatings deposited on a steel surface. The content of particles in the coatings was examined gravimetrically. Ni-PTFE coatings’ roughness was measured with a Siemens TR 100 tester. The microhardness of the deposited layers was measured with theVickers hardness test with a 0.0981 N load. An Amsler A-135 testing device was used to measure sliding wear. Testing conditions were as follows: friction system: block – ring; friction pair: composite coating sample on the S235JR steel – 41Cr4 steel counter sample; rotational speed of counter sample: n=200 rpm., friction speed: V = 0.35 m/s; load: 25daN; test duration: t = 5 h; diameter of counter sample ring – 35 [mm]. Wear was measured every 30 min by weighing with a 0.5 mg accuracy. Conditions for friction pair interaction – lubrication with Lux oil (SAE30), 2 parts of Lux oil:1 part 0,5 M NaCl and 2 parts of Lux oil:1 part 0.28 M H2SO4. The wear resistance of the tribological system friction pair: composite coating Ni-PTFE sample – 41Cr4 steel counter sample is proportional to the microhardness of the composite coatings.
